Pubic Hair Removal

May 15th, 2010 by lisa

Genital or pubic hair removal is now widely practiced by both men and women. There are some salons and beauty clinics that offer custom hair designs over your pubic area. Pubic hair removal needs much more attention than hair removal from any other body part, because the skin around this area is very soft and sensitive. Improper methods of hair removal can cause skin problems such as ingrown hair, razor bumps, blood spots, and red and sore skin.

With pubic hair removal, there are only limited options. Many commonly practiced methods such as depilatory creams, sugaring and laser are not so often practiced for this area. Some effective pubic hair removal methods include shaving, waxing, pulling and electrolysis. These practices can be carried out at home or salons.

Shaving using traditional or electrical razors is the most commonly practiced method for pubic hair removal. If you are following this procedure, you must use safety razors specially designed for pubic hair removal. Although electric razors are expensive, they provide safety. Don’t shave the same area more than twice and avoid shaving creams as much as possible. The problem with shaving is that you have to practice the sessions in every alternate day, and the repeated shaving can cause darkening of the skin.

Waxing is not considered as a good option for pubic hair removing. It can cause pain and can damage the soft skin. But it can produce more lasting results than shaving. Waxing cannot be done in urgent situations, as the skin usually remains red and sore till 1 day after the waxing. There is also Brazilian bikini waxing, which offers total pubic hair removal, but is painful and less effective.

Pulling using epilators, tweezers and electric devices is also practiced quite commonly. Hair usually reappears only after 4 weeks, thus this procedure is considered as a useful alternative to shaving and waxing. They are painful to practice.

Electrolysis can be done for permanent pubic hair removal. Although many electrolysis devices are available for use at home, it is recommended that you consult a licensed electrologist. Electrolysis is very expensive, painful and you will need multiple sessions for getting good results. You have to choose a pubic hair removal method in accordance with your skin type, severity of hair growth and your pocket.

What Nail Treatments Are Available in Salons?

May 15th, 2010 by lisa

There are many hair salons now offering not only hair extensions, colouring of hair, hair straightening, your normal cut and blow dry but also nail extensions, acrylic nails, manicures and pedicures and painting of nails. There also salons popping up which only give nail treatments there usually called nail salons.

If you like having luxurious nails, you more than likely been to a nail salon or you may have regular manicures at your local hairdressers. Wherever you may be there’s a hairdresser or nail salon in your area. If you bite your nails and feel whatever nail polish you put on your nails they still look horrible you may want to try acrylic nails or nail extensions.

Acrylic overlays with tips are an extension tip which is added to your natural nails. This is to give extra length of your nails once they’ve been put on a layer of acrylic is applied to strengthen the nail and tip. Once the acrylic is dry a normal nail polish can be applied. You can have an acrylic overlay on your natural nails, this helps to strengthen your nails and keep your natural nails long. You can have glitter acrylic tips if you want something different and a pink or clear acrylic is applied to fill in the back of the nail. If you have tips applied you should have a backfill every two weeks as your nails will grow within this time and so new acrylic is applied and blended into the re-growth.

Manicures and Pedicures are popular nail treatments in salons as a lot of people find them relaxing but also make them feel good. But it’s not only simple manicures and pedicures being offered in a lot of salons but also treatments including: spa level manicures and pedicures, silk and or cotton nail wraps, natural nail care and the use of organic and botanical products for pedicures. You may only want a manicure but there are also different types of those including just a File and Polish, a Luxury Manicure or a Deluxe Manicure. It all depends on what you want and what kind of budget you have.

If you have lovely nails but you’re never satisfied or happy when you apply nail polish, maybe you can’t do your right hand if you’re left-handed or the other way round, maybe you don’t have a still hand and just can’t apply the polish or maybe you just can’t be bothered. If this sounds like you a salon maybe a good place to visit. You can go to a salon choose the nail polish of you choice and have it applied for you they may even buff and polish your nails too so they look super. If you like something different then having a nail painting may be right for you.

Nail painting is where a nail polish can be applied as a base colour but then you can have a drawing of something you like maybe hearts scattered on each nail, a sunset painting, and flowers on the tips of your nails the list is endless. The painting is either done by the nail technician free hand drawing on your nails or water based decals and or gems being stuck to your nails. The new idea is airbrushing designs onto your nails; this gives a fantastic look and is stunning.

Whatever you may want, ask your nearest salon for what nail treatments they offer, and enjoy putting some fun into your nails.

Everyone I Know is Talking About Remy Hair

May 14th, 2010 by lisa

Why is everybody I know suddenly talking about Remy Hair like it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread? One day I’ve never heard of it; the next, Remy Hair is the hottest topic going. What do I need to know so I don’t miss out?

For those of us who don’t have a Hollywood lifestyle (and the big bucks that go with it), Remy Hair or Virgin Remy Hair may very well be the next best thing to sliced bread.

Looking at the “in” styles in glamour magazines can be almost depressing. Picture after picture of sleek, flowing hair or hair with natural looking wave and body fill the pages while nappy, kinky, hard-to-manage hair fills the reflection in the bathroom mirror. We’ve all been around the block enough times to know that the trendy “do’s” movie stars and recording artists sport don’t come cheap. Popular talk shows have documented the thousands of dollars educated black women have poured into their hair every year, sometimes even going deep into debt just to obtain a look similar to a favorite pop icon.

Then there’s the time factor. Sure, those big-screen favorites have their personal hair dressers on call and can schedule six hours every four to six weeks to have their hair professionally relaxed, but is that really reasonable for your average black woman? Hardly. We’ve got jobs to be at and families to raise. If you’re lucky enough to be able to afford a regular visit to the salon, between holding down a job, putting meals on the table, making sure homework is done, attending the kids’ basketball or football games, and playing taxi service to get them to lessons and back, you probably don’t have the luxury of spending most of a day in a beauty salon very often.

The good news is you no longer have to throw down the magazine with a sigh and think, “Maybe some day.” Black women no longer have to be relegated to short, short hair or cornrows. Some day is here! And that’s why everyone is talking about Remy Hair Wigs and Virgin Remy Hair wigs.

With Remy Hair Wigs, black women have so many more options we can take advantage of. You will fall in love with the variety and versatility you can experience with a Remy wig. No more limits on hairstyles or looks. Short or long. Straight or wavy. Curls. Bounce. Flow. We really can have it all!

And, Remy wigs are so easy to work with. They are as easy to style as natural hair…because they are natural human hair! Just a few minutes with a flat iron or electric curlers will change your professional business look for work into a fun style for a night out on the town.

It gets better. Remy wigs are a fraction of the cost of expensive days in a salon with harsh chemicals that leave your hair brittle and striped of natural shine. They are affordable for we non-Hollywood types. Whether you’re a single mom working and raising kids or a married business woman with a family, investing in Remy Hair Wigs or Virgin Remy Wigs (you will want at least two) is do-able on an average budget! And that investment will last you a lot longer than the next chemical straightening would!

Time? Well, negligible comparatively! You’ll have to take time to measure, order and put the wig on securely. There will still be plenty of time to spend with the kids or to get romantic with your man.

Remy Hair Wigs and Virgin Remy wigs are the hottest topic in town because they really are right up there with sliced bread!

Waxing – A Beautician’s Perspective

May 14th, 2010 by lisa

As a beautician I get asked lots of questions regarding hair waxing from what are the best products to use, the advantages over other hair removal methods to how often to wax and how long should the are treated remain smooth? Obviously as a professional I would recommend that you visit a beauty salon for the best results and advice. However I know that it is not always possible to do this if you don’t have the time or budget to visit a salon regularly. In fact I tend to wax my legs and bikini line myself especially if I’m away on vacation.

I often recommend hair waxing to people if they have encountered problems with other methods. For people with skin that is sensitive to razor burn or are allergic to depilatory creams hair waxing can be the best alternative.

Waxing is not only effective over a large area of the body, the back or chest for example, but it is also very good for tidying and shaping areas like eyebrows and the bikini line.

Essentially there are two different types of wax kits available for home use either hot wax or cold wax. It’s often down to personal preference which one you go for but there are certain parts of the body that are better treated with hot wax and vice versa.

Hot wax requires that you purchase a wax heater so that you can melt the wax before applying it. Hot waxing tends to be more suited to the legs and bikini line with cold wax fine to use for the face and underarms.

Our body hair tends to grow at different speeds, which determine how often each area will require waxing. However the whole of the hair including the follicle is removed when using hot wax so the area treated tends to remain smoother for longer than if treated with cold wax.

Cold wax usually comes in strips which are applied cold and then removed sharply in one movement. This can be tricky to get right at first and can be painful if done incorrectly so it is advisable to have someone who has used hair wax before to help you if its your first time waxing at home.

After a few goes at waxing you should be able to treat most of your body yourself, with the back being an obvious exception, so guys will have to get some help to do this. You can also have fun with the end result.

I hope this has helped you make your mind up about which type of waxing is best for you and you’ll soon be an expert yourself.

A Look at Nail Salon Equipment

May 14th, 2010 by lisa

The type of equipment required for a nail salon is different than that of a salon that solely offers hair styling services. This equipment can be just as costly as outfitting a hair salon, depending on the style of the pieces and materials used in manufacturing nail salon equipment.

There are several pieces of specific equipment that will typically be utilized in a nail salon. A manicure table is the most common piece of nail salon equipment found in virtually all nail salons. A manicure table is similar to a common desk and it allows a nail technician an ample, steady surface area to perform work on a client’s nails. Basic manicure tables feature storage drawers, a padded hand rest for comfort, and swivel casters. Additional features of higher-end manicure tables include vents, built in electrical outlets, and polish racks.

Typically, manicure tables are made of a wood laminate for durability and easy cleaning. Nail dryers are a separate piece of nail salon equipment that are often placed on a manicure table to allow the client to fully dry their nails after receiving a fresh coat of polish. Manicure tables are available through a large number of retailers and can vary in price from under $100 to over $1,000. The price is usually dependent on the features the table offers and the materials it’s made of.

A pedicure spa is a staple in salons that offer pedicure services. Pedicure spas are designed to offer a client extreme comfort while a nail technician performs a pedicure. Pedicure spa systems typically consist of a padded chair for extra comfort that often features a rolling back massage. These chairs are attached to a foot spa where the client can indulge in soaking their feet, prior to receiving their nail treatment. Foot spas often feature jets that offer a full foot and lower leg massage for ultimate relaxation. New pedicure spas typically cost between $3,000 and $4,000. An additional piece of nail salon equipment that is used in conjunction with a pedicure spa is a technician’s stool. This low stool allows the nail technician to face the client and provide nail treatment. These small pedicure stools are often easily adjusted to the correct height for each technician and client.

Nail salon equipment varies from extremely basic, inexpensive, equipment to costly high-end equipment featuring the latest in accessories. As with new equipment, there is also a high demand for used nail salon equipment. Used nail salon equipment may be a good option for a salon owner who is just starting out or values simplicity. Used nail salon equipment can offer huge cost savings to the buyer. When buying used equipment it is important to ensure that all adjustment mechanisms and electrical parts are in proper working order prior to making a purchase.

Tips For Finding Quality Hair Salons

May 13th, 2010 by lisa

When you move to a new area, there are many relationships that you will need to develop as quickly as possible. Finding quality hair salons can be one of those essential, albeit tricky, tasks. The truth is that not all hair salons are created equal and the place that services your neighbor down the street just might not work for you at all. We have tips for finding quality hair salons that will help you find the perfect salon and stylist for your unique needs.

The first method of finding quality hair salons is to ask around. Ask your neighbor where she gets her hair done. If possible, find someone with a style similar to yours; to ensure they are already familiar with your style and length.

If you are given the name of hair salons that sound promising, the next step could be to make an appointment for a consultation so you get a chance to check out the salon and the stylists. When you walk into beauty salons for this purpose, there are some red flags to watch out for.

First, see if the hair salons appear clean and tidy. Clean salons can be a sign that the stylists take pride in their position. Watch to see if the stylists greet you in a friendly manner when you come in and whether they appear to be listening to their clients’ preferences before working on their hair.

If you feel good about the hair salon during your consultation, chances are you would feel comfortable going there on a regular basis.

Online Fax Solutions For Your Small Business

May 12th, 2010 by lisa

Mainly because of these uncertain economic times, more and more individuals are starting their own small companies or operating a business from home. In most cases, their place of work has shifted from a large crowded office building to the comfort of their own home. And that as they say, has made all the difference in the world.

However, along with this freedom comes some major problems of how to stay in contact with the outside world on a limited budget. If you have your own business you will know operating expenses have a nasty habit of increasing quickly and subtracting from your profit margin. A small business owner or anyone working from their home must be able to keep all their operating expenses in check.

As mentioned before, one of the ongoing expenses will be your communication costs. Phone bills, fax costs, Internet fees… if you’re not careful all these can add up to a hefty monthly charge or expense. You must find a solution that is cost-effective while still giving you the freedom or the convenience of operating a small business can produce.

One solution many small business owners are turning to is online fax. Instead of operating the traditional fax machine, they are opting for a virtual fax machine or service, where all your faxing chores are outsourced to a online fax service provider.

Online or Internet faxing is simply using your email program and your web connection to send and receive all your faxes. Your chosen fax service provider acts as your intermediary to handle all your faxes for you and your faxes are sent as email attachments (Tiff or Pdf format).

Now, there are many benefits for the small business owner by going this route. First, online fax is truly mobile, you can do your faxing anywhere, anytime. You can fax from any mobile device such as a cell phone, netbook, laptop, smart phone or PDA. This mobility can give any home business or small company extra freedom and reach.

Next, online fax is much cheaper than using a regular fax machine mainly because it is web based so you don’t need an extra fax phone line and because it’s paperless faxing, you don’t have the ongoing expenses or costs of inks, paper and toners. Depending on the amount of faxing your company or home business requires… costs can run as low as $4 or $5 a month, although the average monthly charge is around $8-$10.

To get online fax you have to sign-up to one of the many Internet fax service providers, where you’re given a Local or Toll-Free fax number to use. You are also given an online interface or site where your faxes are stored. You can also logon to check and/or send your faxes from here. Keep in mind, each of these different fax providers have different prices and rates; plus, they also vary in the numbers of faxes you can send each month. The average is around 300, but shop around and you will find better deals.

If you’re on a strict budget and watching your pennies, you should make sure you check the overage fee which is charged to your faxes once you go over the monthly limit. The average here is around 10 cents but shop around and you will find much better rates. This factor is very important if you send a lot of faxes each month. Actually, if you will be sending a lot of faxes, you should look into an unlimited fax plan, these will cost more but you could save money over the long-run. Likewise, another option which many home business go for is a complete PBX service where fax is just one component, you get all your phone services, call forwarding, voice mail… handled through one convenient system.

One of the best reasons for any small business or home office to use online fax concerns scalability. Because everything is computer and web based you can quickly scale up or down the number of fax lines you have since there is no extra hardware to install. For a small business this is ideal because it gives you great flexibility and growth potential. You can quickly tailor your fax services to meet your company’s needs.

One last point to mention about operating a small business and online fax is competitiveness. Having your business totally reachable 24/7, simply means your office or store is open around the clock. This can make your business more competitive in these uncertain economic times and it something you should consider.

Overall, online fax is the perfect solution for the small business owner. It is cost-effective, convenient, portable and available anywhere you have Internet access. It can truly make any business or company more competitive in this dog eat dog business world. It is one solution you should definitely consider for your business.
